The project comprises a single-storey dwelling, a separate annex, a garage/workshop building, and a stable block. The former garden nursery site has an extensive planning history for residential development, culminating in a proposal aligned with the principles of Paragraph 84 of the NPPF, which sought to permit exceptional new homes in isolated countryside locations.

Inspired by the spatial organisation of a Roman villa, the house reinterprets its classical heritage through a contemporary modernist aesthetic. Its H-shaped plan creates a series of interconnected spaces, rooms and courtyards, establishing a strong relationship between the interior and the surrounding garden. Expansive glazing and sliding internal walls enhance flexibility, natural light and visual connectivity, while the symmetry and clarity of the plan provide a practical framework for modern family living.

Designed to achieve carbon neutrality, the development was conceived to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 5.
