As part of White Horse Housing Association’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable homes in rural communities, PKA Architects were appointed to lead the sensitive conversion of a former 17th-century cart barn into a unique two bedroom dwelling.
Having more recently been used as a village meeting room, the Grade II listed building has been thoughtfully transformed into an "upside down" house, placing the living spaces on the upper floor to take advantage of natural light and views.
Balancing conservation with contemporary living, the design preserves key historic features while integrating modern construction standards and energy efficiency.
